Kwantlen Polytechnic University professor Ange Frymire Fleming, school of business, was inducted into the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) College of Fellows June 10 at the CPRS National Conference in Victoria, B.C.
Frymire Fleming also celebrates the John Dobson Fellowship Award for Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACE) Canada/SIFE International at the 2011-2012 Canadian Nationals Competition.
?Being accepted into the CPRS College of Fellows is one of the highest honours for me, personally and professionally,? says Frymire Fleming. ?I?ve been heavily involved with mentoring other professionals for over 30 years. I attribute this new role as a CPRS leader to my parents, who taught me the value of giving back to the community well.?
Frymire Fleming was also named a recipient of the John Dobson Fellowship Award for her work with the newly founded SIFE Kwantlen Team, at the ACE Nationals Competition in Calgary, AB May 7-9, 2012. This award acknowledges Frymire Fleming?s 400-plus hours in guiding and mentoring her team of five students this past academic year.
?SIFE Kwantlen has worked so hard to get to where we?re at, in such a small amount of time,? says Kevin Shen, president of SIFE Kwantlen. ?Ange took our team of five members, none of which had any experience in competitions, or running a business, and helped us become a team that now has over 20 members and has been regarded as a go-to source by newer SIFE teams across Canada. Ange helped us get to where we are today, leading us in sustainability projects, and counseling us with new ideas and support.?
Frymire Fleming is also the recipient of the 2011 CPRS Canadian Mentor of the Year Award; 2010 CPRS CN Emery LeBlanc Award (highest membership growth across Canada during presidency of CPRS-VI); 2009 Honourary Life Membership Award ? SIWC; 2005 Life Membership Award ? Notre Dame of Canada.
The CPRS College of Fellows was established in 1998 to recognize CPRS members who are proven leaders in public relations and communications and who have made exceptional contributions to the profession and their communities. SIFE is an international non-profit student-focused organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders.
