The satellite provider announced earlier today that the well-known Sunday Ticket package will be returning to the PlayStation 3 on September 4th via a PS Store update, allowing current subscribers to stream full-HD games directly to Sony's renowned console. Most Americans say the rich don't pay enough taxes

WASHINGTON (AP) ? As the income gap between rich and poor widens, a majority of Americans say the growing divide is bad for the country and believe that wealthy people are paying too little in taxes, according to a new survey.

The poll released Monday by the Pew Research Center points to a particular challenge for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, whose party's policies are viewed by a wide majority as favoring the rich over the middle class and poor.

The poll found that many Americans believe rich people to be intelligent and hardworking but also greedy and less honest than the average American. Nearly six in 10, or 58 percent, say the rich don't pay enough in taxes, while 26 percent believe the rich pay their fair share and 8 percent say they pay too much.

Even among those who describe themselves as "upper class" or "upper middle class," more than half ? or 52 percent ? said upper-income Americans don't pay enough in taxes; only 10 percent said they paid too much. This upper tier was more likely to say they are more financially secure now than 10 years ago ? 62 percent, compared to 44 percent for those who identified themselves as middle class and 29 percent for the lower class. They are less likely to report problems in paying rent or mortgage, losing a job, paying for medical care or other bills and cutting back on household expenses.

The findings come at the start of this week's Republican National Convention and as both Romney and President Barack Obama seek to appeal to a broad swath of financially struggling voters who identify as middle class. Romney supports an extension of Bush-era tax cuts for everyone including the wealthiest 2 percent, and says his policies will benefit the middle class by boosting the economy and creating jobs.

"The fact that Romney may be viewed as wealthy doesn't necessarily pose problems for his candidacy," said Kim Parker, associate director of Pew Social & Demographic Trends, noting that people see the wealthy as having both positive and negative attributes. "The challenge for Romney lies more in the fact that large majorities say if he is elected president, his policies would likely benefit the wealthy."

The results reinforce a tide of recent economic data showing a widening economic divide. America's middle class has been shrinking in the stagnant economy and poverty is now approaching 1960s highs, while wealth concentrates at the top. A separate Pew survey earlier this year found that tensions between the rich and poor were increasing and at their most intense level in nearly a quarter-century.

In fact, well-off people do shoulder a big share of the tax burden. Though households earning over $1 million annually comprise just 0.3 percent of all taxpayers, they pay 20 percent of all federal taxes the government is projected to collect this year, according to the Tax Policy Center, a nonpartisan group that studies tax policy. The figures included income, payroll and estate taxes. In contrast, households earning $50,000 to $75,000 a year accounted for 12 percent of taxpayers and contributed 9 percent of federal taxes, the center's data showed. Some 46 percent of households pay no federal income tax at all, although they do pay payroll, excise and other taxes.

The American income tax system has long been designed to be progressive, meaning higher earners are expected to pay a greater share of their income than those making less.

In this year's tax battle in Washington, Obama wants to let the current top rate of 35 percent for high earners rise to 39.6 percent next year. Congressional Republicans would reduce the top rate to 25 percent, while Romney would reduce it to 28 percent. Romney and GOP lawmakers have said they would eliminate some deductions to pay for the rate reductions, but have not specified which ones.

According to Pew's latest findings, about 63 percent of Americans say the GOP favors the rich over the middle class and poor, and 71 percent say Romney's election would be good for wealthy people. A smaller share, 20 percent, says the same about the Democratic Party. More Americans ? 60 percent ? say if Obama is re-elected his policies will benefit the poor, while half say they'll help the middle class and 37 percent say they'll boost the wealthy.

"The Great Recession was not an equal opportunity disemployer," said Sheldon Danziger, a public policy professor at the University of Michigan who describes the gap between rich and poor as the widest in decades. "College graduates, whites and middle-aged workers had fewer and shorter layoffs than high school graduates, blacks, Hispanics and younger workers. And, only a small percentage of the rich work in the hardest-hit industries, like construction and manufacturing."

About 65 percent of Americans say the gap between rich and poor has gotten wider in the past decade, while 20 percent believe it has stayed the same and 7 percent say the gap has gotten smaller. Separately, 57 percent say a widening income gap is a bad thing for society; just 3 percent say it is a good thing.

Asked to estimate how much a family of four would need to earn to be considered wealthy in their area, the median amount given by survey respondents was $150,000. For middle class, the median amount was $70,000.

Many Americans see rich people as more likely to be intelligent (43 percent) and hardworking (42 percent) than average Americans. But the rich are also seen as more likely to be greedy (55 percent). Thirty-four percent of those surveyed say the rich are less likely to be honest than the average person; just 12 percent say the rich are more likely to be honest.

The Pew survey involved telephone interviews with 2,508 adults conducted from July 16 to 26. It has a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.

It's being reported that Sony is closing Optiarc Inc., its company subsidiary that manufactures optical disc drives for PCs. Officials are quoted as saying that "fierce competition" forced prices down, causing the business to operate at a loss despite controlling roughly 15 percent of the market. Operations will be wound up by March of next year, with around 400 employees being offered early retirement and others being moved to other parts of the business. Don't worry about the future of your Blu-Ray and DVD player just yet though -- the company will continue to manufacture both as part of its Device Solutions Division.

Amnesty: Gambia executes nine, more threatened

JOHANNESBURG (AP) ? Amnesty International says it has credible reports that the West African nation of Gambia has executed nine convicted criminals and that more death-row inmates are under imminent threat.

Eight men and one woman were removed from their prison cells Friday night and executed, according to Amnesty.

Gambia's information minister was not immediately available to confirm the report.

Amnesty said the executions are the first in Gambia since 1987. Gambia reinstated the death penalty in 1995 but had not executed anyone.

Gambia's President Yaya Jammeh vowed earlier this month to execute all the country's inmates who had been sentenced to death as part of efforts to dissuade people from committing "heinous crimes" and to curb a rising crime rate.

Amnesty said there were 47 inmates on death row.

Could Cell Phones Stop People from Texting While Driving?

People have gotten good at multitasking, but sometimes this skill is taken too far, and the result can be deadly. Texting while driving a car is a prime example. Laws prohibit it, but many people still find it impossible to resist. Ideally, there would be a way to eliminate the temptation altogether, through safeguards on the cell phone itself. At the moment that s not possible, but it may soon be.

Researchers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) are studying how software on a cell phone could analyze keystrokes to determine when that phone?s user is distracted while composing and sending text messages. This doesn?t necessarily mean the person is driving, of course, but combined with GPS and other data, it may be possible to determine when a texter is behind the wheel. In that case, the phone could shut off texting functions automatically. Such a feature could take the form of a mobile app for any phone independent of the manufacturer, operating system and wireless service provider.

?If you think of your brain as a CPU, multi-tasking means your brain is dealing with a large amount of information,? says Mike Watkins, manager of applied physics at PNNL, operated by the U.S. Department of Energy?s Office of Science. ?Related to texting, even if you don?t have to look at your cell phone screen, you?re still cycling those mental resources.?

Such ?cognitive timesharing? behind the wheel isn?t anything new car stereos, argumentative passengers and even eating all contribute to distracting drivers. But texting is especially problematic because it involves manual, visual and cognitive distraction simultaneously. Sending or reading a text takes a driver?s eyes off the road for 4.6 seconds, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation?s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which estimates that at 88 kilometers per hour the U.S. speed limit in many areas such a lapse in concentration is like driving the length of an entire football field while blindfolded.

The NHTSA estimates that in 2010 more than 3,000 people were killed and 416,000 others injured in road wrecks caused by distracted driving in the U.S., including crashes involving texting or other cell phone use. In response to the larger problem, the NHTSA earlier this week announced a new grant program to provide about $17.5 million to states that have enacted and are enforcing anti-distracted driving laws, including anti-texting statutes.

The PNNL researchers are hoping their work can help in ways that laws cannot using the phones themselves to flag those who can?t resist the impulse to text and drive. They tested their approach in a limited study a few years ago by analyzing the behavior of six study participants who were instructed to text while operating a driving simulator.

The texters used a Nokia model 6790 Surge phone that logged the duration and sequence of keystrokes during a 20-minute texting session and then during a 20-minute texting session while using the driving simulator. During simulated driving, the texters used several techniques to tap out short messages: by placing both palms on top of the steering wheel while texting, by using a single hand to text, and by taking both hands off the steering wheel and returning them intermittently to make steering corrections. Drivers would drive off the road, run red lights and commit other acts of poor driving, being tracked all the while.

The researchers then investigated the potential to use various keystroke dynamics as a means of determining if an individual was texting while driving. In particular, they focused on ?keystroke entropy,? when keys were struck at irregular intervals, as an indicator that the test subjects? attention was divided between texting and driving.

After evaluating the sensitivity of the keystroke entropy indicator against the number of keystrokes recorded, the researchers found they could accurately and relatively quickly identify when a test subject had been both texting and operating the simulator. They found normal texting took on more rhythmic patterns.

The study is limited, Watkins acknowledges, because it used so few participants and a simulator as opposed to an actual car. He and his colleagues are hoping to expand their test to drivers on a closed course, where safety would be more of a concern to participants.

The nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank traced the job losses back to China joining the World Trade Organization a decade ago.

Of the 2.7 million net jobs lost or eliminated, 2.1 million were in manufacturing, the report found.

California lost the most jobs, 474,700, the report found.

?The United States is piling up foreign debt and losing export capacity, and the growing trade deficit with China has been a prime contributor to the crisis in U.S. manufacturing employment,? said the report?s author, Robert Scott, EPI director of trade and manufacturing policy research, in a written statement.

The report blames the China trade deficit for eliminating or displacing more than half of all U.S. manufacturing jobs lost between 2001 and 2011.

?The EPI report offers convincing evidence that unless China?s trade violations and currency manipulation are challenged forcefully, our growing trade deficit will continue to cripple the fledgling U.S. jobs recovery,? said Scott Paul, executive director of the Alliance for American Manufacturing, a nonprofit, nonpartisan partnership of the United Steelworkers and manufacturers.

Question: If you could go back in time, what time would you return to and why? Normally I answer, or vaguely answer, my own questions in these reviews but I?m not going to on this one. I am not an overly nostalgic person unless it has to do with a film or a band. Plus, after seeing Safety Not Guaranteed this past weekend, I learned a valuable lesson. Sorry if this confuses anyone but you will just have to see Safety Not Guaranteed to understand what I am referring to?.or trying to, at least. I have wanted to see this film for a long time. There was just something about the story that drew me to it ? not too long ago I even posted the preview on here; and I save those posts usually for films that I think will be interesting, unique or that tell a story that will move me. This one did, not drastically, but enough to get me out of my writer?s block (fingers crossed) and make me contemplate parts of my life. That?s what I want from most films, art, books, etc?an opportunity to think; notice something you hadn?t before; and look upon an idea with a fresh perspective, etc? Safety Not Guaranteed took on an age-old idea: looking back on your past with regret and hoping you can change things so you wouldn?t be unhappy now. And the filmmakers made a charming, perfectly decent film that will just make you smile. Plus, they added the idea of time travel. Who wouldn?t like that, right? So, I ask again, would you want to go back in time and why? For most, I believe, the reasoning will involve another person: a partner, girlfriend, boyfriend, parent or someone with whom you hurt or they did something that haunts you, still. We all make mistakes. Mistakes are thrust upon us. We fall in love with the wrong person, or the right person, and hearts get broken no matter what. Also, we can be cruel to another. Admit it ? we have ALL been there. We are human. Safety Not Guaranteed represented several aspects of people?s regret and/or searching for the cure to change their current situation. And I think most will be able to relate. Now the next question(s): Could we fix it? Should we fix it? Would we be better off if we changed these brief, few moments of the past? Or are we where we are supposed to be? Thinking about regrets is enough to drive you a little mad. And that?s how the actor in this film, Mark Duplass? character, is portrayed. Someone who must be insane because he puts a classified ad in the paper requesting a partner go back in time with him. He declares it will be dangerous and your safety will not be guaranteed. His ad intrigues a magazine editor ? enough to send a writer and two interns to check the story out. There are a couple other character in this film that display the same sort of desire to change their present by reaching towards the past: The young intern, Darius, played by Aubrey Plaza and her boss, Jeff, played by Jake. M. Johnson. Both these characters represented the vast differences on why someone would want to go back in time. I liked both characters, a lot. In fact, Jeff was one that kept the comedy going in this film. He?s the type of guy you don?t want to like but he evokes sympathy when you aren?t expecting. Darius is a sarcastic girl that has a deep, hidden secret on why she is unhappy now. As for the rest of the story, no more details. Just go see this film. It is slated as a comedy, and it was absolutely funny at parts but it is not slap stick or a joke every few minutes type of film. The humor is subtle and well placed. Safety Not Guaranteed showed real humor, the humor we all have in our lives. The absurdity that is ever present ? that?s what makes it a comedy. However, I would categorize this as a drama as well. And that?s a compliment. Bottom line: Just give me a good story, tell it well and with respect (especially for the audience), and you?ve got a fan in me. Safety Not Guaranteed did all three. Well done! My favorite thing: There might too many things to list here. I just really, really liked this film. Okay, I laughed OUT LOUD when Jeff raises his fists in the air. His reaction to what was happening just kept me smiling and smiling. My least favorite thing: I got nothing this time. Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Big Beach Films, 2012 Genre: Comedy Starring: Aubrey Plaza, Jake M. Johnson, Mark Duplass, Karan Soni, Jeff Garlin and Kristen Bell. Rating: R Length: 86 minutes Review: 9 out of 10

But failed to keep up the appearance of being the prefect mom, wife and family yesterday. We had a meeting with SS7's Therapist yesterday and the step-parents were 'encouraged' to attend by the Therapist. So I went and I planned to just sit there and answer any questions that were asked of me.

We went in and BM sat in the corner while FDH and I sat on the sofa together. Chubby Hubby (BM's husband) was running late. The Therapist started talking about her sessions with SS7 and made note of our 'journal', she stressed the need for structure in SS7 life and 'syncing' the households - all the while looking at BM. She already told us that we were very structured. The importance of getting enough sleep and nutrition. BM chimed in and said that he eats really well (yeah if it's pizza) while I talked about taking him to McD's and trying to talk him into a 6 piece instead of a 4 piece. We talked about dinner time, FDH told her we eat as a family at the dinner table every night, I added that the boys and I still eat at the table even if FDH has to work late. BM said "Oh yeah we do that too". (Ss7 says he eats in his room or in the living room)

She talked about limiting his TV and Video game time - not so much setting time limits but just watching it and knowing when it can be turned off. I told her that I don't turn the TVs on at all in the morning when the kids have school because other wise they don't get ready. (BM said nothing)

She talked about NOT coddling him all the time, he needs to learn to deal with things on his own. I told her about him getting a paper cut in the car and since I was driving I couldn't help him so she started talking to himself and telling himself that it was okay. FDH talked about getting SS7 to wash his own hair and put on his own lotion. (BM said nothing)

She talked about 'transition' period, when the boys got from house to house and how to make it better. She added that it will always be weird for the first 24 hours but allowing the kids to relax (no video games or TV) before and right after we make the switch.

We talked about him going to that bathroom all the time - his new 'stress release'. Therapist said we need to nip that in the butt, it not healthy. We have to explain to him that it's just his mind playing tricks on him. We talked about some of the other things that he might do to relieve stress and BM just said that he doesn't do that at her house - to which the Therapist responded. "If he does it at one house then he does it at both, you probably just don't notice it".

We talked about School and Therapist asked who his teacher was, BM answered and FDH was like really that's good to know. BM said they sent him something but I get the mail and trust me they didn't send anything. Of course this was after Therapist said that we seem to get along better than most - apparently we just suck at communicating.

At some point in there Chubby Hubby joined us. He looked SO happy to be there. He went in and sat in the seat furthest from BM (which was the Therapist made him move - that was her seat). The Therapist asked him what his concerns were and he told her to come back to him, which she did twice and he still had nothing.

She warned us that we needed to watch what we say around SS7 - she tested him and even though he looks to not be paying attention he takes a lot in. FDH agreed that this was could apply to us, we tend to say things about BM when we think SS7 isn't hearing us. He also picks up on what it going on around him more than most kids. FDH told the story SS7 told him about BM not having any money (burn) and how he came to that conclusion on his own.

I am not sure what we were talking about at the time but FDH also felt the need to tell BM and the Therapist that the night before SS7 told him that he just wanted to stay home all week, when said that he could and I would stay with him SS7 went off on this rant about how he just wanted BM to stay home with him one day but won't, she is always gone. FDH explained the BM has to work and he was actually nice about it which made the Therapist smile and comment that FDH and BM seem to be better at that than most divorced parents. I am sure (or I hope) it made BM feel like crap since she can't even stay home with him on weekends.

During the meeting I was loving to FDH, I put my hand on his back or held his hand while BM and Chubby didn't even want to sit by each other. Half way through the Therapist started calling Chubby by the wrong name and no one corrected her (not my job). As we walked out i walked by FDH and stood by him in the elevator. BM and Chubby stood on opposite walls. When we got outside FDH said he was hungry and I offered to fix him something when we got home. BM told Chubby that she was going back to work (this is at like 5:30) When he asked how long she was going to be she said a few HOURS! As we pulled away they were standing on both sides of her van talking across the hood - with what looked like a rather heated discussion by the body language - there was no contact not even a kiss good-bye (they had a van between them) and rode there in separate cars. ?I think we need a break?.

The words cut through me as I listened to my husband bring up a separation? again.

This isn?t the first time we have talked about it. It?s July 2012, a few days before our 3rd wedding anniversary and my marriage is rapidly deteriorating.

Three years ago, I graduated Valedictorian with an MBA from the #1 business school in Canada. A few months later in July 2009, I moved to the U.S. to marry the love of my life. The sky was the limit and future was so promising.

I had all my plans laid out and of course, that?s usually when the fun begins?

The day (yes, one day) after our honeymoon, I discovered I was a few weeks pregnant and by the time my green card arrived so I could begin work, I was well into my second trimester.

No point applying for a job now, I thought.

I had already started Crystal Clear Interviews and worked on it part-time through business school so instead of sitting around, I made the decision this would be my full-time job. It gave me the flexibility to be on maternity leave, work from home and do what I love ? help women succeed.

The only problem was, I had never started an online business before.

So, if I wasn?t returning to the corporate world to get a job, I needed to do ?whatever it took? to get this venture off the ground. That single decision was the reason my husband was having this conversation with me.

I did ?whatever it took?.

18 hour days. 7 days a week. Weekends. Holidays. No breaks. Lots of marketing seminars. Internet courses and training programs. Learning whatever I needed to learn to bring this business to life.

I went from caring for one baby, my beautiful daughter Jasmine to caring for my next baby, Crystal Clear Interviews.

I love this business and the way I am able to impact hundreds of women every day. I live, breathe and obsess about every detail. I want everything to be first-class, from the product to the service we provide.

I oversee every single detail of the website, marketing materials, membership sites, articles, videos, blog posts that we write and distribute all over the internet.

I obsess over the amount of traffic the website gets, the content we give away for free and the content our members pay for. I obsess over whether they are pleased with our product, our services.

I wonder why some choose to invest in the program and others don?t. Why aren?t they buying? Is it me? Am I not describing it well? Why don?t they trust me that I can help them? If they have a problem I can help them why won?t they try the program?

Yes, I obsess over this daily. It?s all I talk about.

I celebrate every time I get a phone call or email with a success story from one of our members who had a great interview and got hired.

I love leading workshops for Dress For Success, a non-profit organization helping disadvantaged women with professional attire and career development.

I love being a guest expert at career fairs for Women For Hire, founded by Good Morning America?s Tory Johnson.

I love speaking to groups and associations teaching women how to do more, be more and achieve more in their careers.

I love my job as Founder/CEO of Crystal Clear Interviews.

I love, love, LOVE it!

But it?s destroying my personal life.

I looked at my husband and realized that I couldn?t continue like this. The time, money and energy it takes to build any business is taking a toll on us. I want to keep growing it and helping more women succeed. But I can?t. Not right now.

It?s not fair to my family. And if I have to attend one more therapy session, I?ll shoot myself.

?I?ll get a job honey? I heard myself say. And I meant it.

So, today, I am officially on the job market again.

I?m not looking for my dream job. I already have it.

But I need to make some changes. I need to scale it back.

So, I?m cancelling all speaking engagements and guest blogging activity immediately. I?m ceasing all advertising and I?m scaling back the number of live workshops and personal consultations I deliver.

I?ll still blog every week and of course, our online course is always available 24/7 on the website.

Why am I sharing all this with you?

Well, if you are reading this, you are part of a community I serve.

A community of ambitious professional women looking for the help they need to succeed in their job interviews. And just like you, I am also going through major changes in my life and my career and trying to figure it all out.
