Playing for Auburn University was an offer Fort Lauderdale University School quarterback Sean White couldn?t pass up.
After visiting Auburn on Thursday, White said he received an offer from the school?s coaching staff on Tuesday and orally committed without hesitation.
?It?s a dream come true,? said White, rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports and three stars by Rivals in the Class of 2014.
White, who also held reported offers from Cincinnati, South Florida, FIU and interest from Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Ole Miss and Arkansas, said he ?loved everything about? Auburn during his visit, citing the school?s atmosphere and fan base. Playing in the Southeastern Conference, especially against Alabama in the annual Iron Bowl game were also reasons behind White?s decision.
White said winning most valuable player honors at the Elite 11 quarterback competition and Nike?s The Opening event in Beaverton, Ore., earlier this month also helped secure an offer from the Auburn staff.
?I was hearing from Auburn before that,? White said regarding the events, ?but it helped verify the way I can play and the way I can compete with the top quarterbacks in the country.?
White called Auburn coach Gus Malzahn a ?quarterback mastermind,? and said having a hand in winning the school?s third national championship ? and first since 2010 when Cam Newton lead the Tigers past Oregon ? ?would be awesome.?
?I think the fan base deserves [a national championship] and I think we?re going to build a good enough class there,? White said. ?With Guz Malzahn as the coach, I think we?re going to have a shot and you always have a shot playing in the SEC.?
