Guinea-Bissau ex-military boss seeks refuge

A relative of Guinea-Bissau's former military chief says he is seeking refuge at a European Union compound in the capital after another ex-official was killed hours after national elections this week.

Domingos Tiago said Friday that his cousin Zamora Induta went to the EU compound after the killing of the former head of military intelligence. Tiago says he doesn't know how long his cousin has been there. EU officials did not confirm Induta's location.

Samba Diallo was killed shortly after polls closed on Sunday.

It is unclear if Diallo's death is linked to the poll. Guinea-Bissau has weathered countless coups since independence from Portugal in 1974.
